YMCA CAMP COUNSELOR

My time at Kitaki was brief but ever so rewarding. I initially took the position in order to further my experience working with kids and teens of various ages. The added bonus was getting to camp the entire summer in a remote jewel of Nebraska's nature.

It was here at Kitaki where my intentions to teach were reaffirmed. I never felt more confident in my abilities to mentor after just one summer here.

Working with such a wide range of kids poses many a challenge naturally. It was a trial of experiencing the capabilities of each age group with the added factor of working with specialty groups of kids with different abilities.

Every day that summer I was faced with new provocations of behavior management, first aid & safety, and creating lasting memories.
