CO-TEACHING LCC

SPRING 2018

Laurel, NE is consolidated with the nearby schools of Concord and Coleridge. LCC's high school is located in Laurel where I chose to further my classroom experiences.

The art teacher there currently, was fairly new, still working out here room and adjusting to the new school. I had no idea what to expect that first meet up.

The prior teacher before her had left the room in such disarray that parts of the classroom weren't able to be utilized. On top of that, the teacher wasn't able to implement a ceramics program into her curriculum due to multiple hiccups in classroom organization, supplies, and her current knowledge of ceramics. That's where I came in.

Since working there, I have accepted the role of the ceramics instructor and began incorporating work with clay into the class room. It was here I polished my demonstrations of wheel work and clay construction. I helped to reorganize parts of the room to be dedicated to ceramic work for the students and provided insight to how to lead projects in ceramics.

Working with these high schoolers has been such a joy and I'm happy to have introduced a medium into LCC High's art room.
